Hi all! I am researching Arrasmith/Arrowsmith in Westmoreland Co., VA. Wanting to see if there is a connection between Richard Arrowsmith whose will was probated on June 30, 1752 and a Thomas Arrowsmith born in VA, 1733. Richard mentions only one son in his will which is a Thomas Arrowsmith and also a daughter Mary Bitty (Beatty?). His wife, Elizabeth is also mentioned in this will. Looking for the connection. My Thomas ended up in Montgomery Co., KY, later Bath County, Kentucky. Sure hope there is a connection. I have also been told that my Thomas was involved in the French and Indian War and lived in close proximity to George Washington. Who knows if these are true or not, but would love to find out! I am trying to find ancesters for Major Hardy Carroll b. March 12, 1791. d.March 28, 1858 m. Elizabeth Ferguson in Stokes Co, NC on March 18, 1815. Major had settled in Stokes Co. after returning from the War of 1812. He is believed to be the son of Alexander CARREL/ CARROLL/?? and Lucy ROYAL/RYAL who married in Duplin Co, NC on April 7, 1783. They were living in adjacent Sampson Co. in the 1790 Census. I have some unverified information on the background of Lucy Royal, but absolutely nothing on Alexander. The only clue is that a Demcy Carrel co-signed Alexander's marriage bond. Alexander also bought some land from Demcy Carroll and his wife Martha. Demcy Carrel and an Edmund Carrel were witnesses when Alexander later sold some land. These names - Alexander, Demcy (Dempsey) and Edmund - do not appear in any of the other Carroll/Carrel families that I have been able to reconstruct living in that area at that time. I have found information that a Dempsey Carroll lived in Westmoreland Co., VA prior to this time, but I have found no way of linking him to Sampson Co, NC. This is the line I am interested in. I think they are the group that went on to KY, then on to IN and IL. Abigail, in this case, would have been Abigail Rhodes, daughter of John Rhodes. Does someone have the Rhodes line information as well? John Allen could have been the son of Archibald and Abigail (Rhodes) Allen. I know that there was a John Allen born to Archibald & Abigail Allen in Stafford during 1743. Archibald must have kept the book as John Allen wrote in his own hand. The last person to own the book and record in it was a Samuel Holiday who wrote he owned this book in 1804. Samuel must have been educated as he wrote in Latin. I was given the book by my uncle in Buncombe Co, NC. He said his Uncle Jesse Wright gave the book to him, saying "This book belongs to our family and came across the ocean with our ancestors." I know that Archibald & Abigail were in Prince William Co and Fauquier Co. I do not know where they went or their son John. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is once again an internet hoax. I received this email several wks ago, from a spam mail. As you can see, nothing happened in two wks. As it is now, the FCC isn't letting phone companies do this. A couple of yrs ago, many phone companies tried to add extra charges because they were peeved that they were not getting money esp from long distance charges that they could have received if the internet wasn't used. Not to mention, lines being tied up due to people hanging out on the net. There are many hoaxes, and most of you with good intentions keep passing them along, but please don't encourage these jokers by passing along all these mails. It's difficult to tell, esp when you are a new pc user what is for real and what is not. It's best not to pass along rumors esp if you are not sure if it is fact or not. This is for the MSgt who is doing lookups for the 1850 census, I misplaced your email address. I requested that you check for other Mozingo, Mazingo families in the Rockbridge-Allegheny Counties, Soundex M-252. They are all related I am sure. Yesterday, I found out from another person who had the Allegheny Marriage Records they were married 1/21/1836. I am trying to find his brother William and the family with the father named possibly William, Thomas or Charles in the same area. The Mozingo families were very good about naming their children after parents, grandparents and ancestors. Thank you very much. Looking for information on my great great grandfather Charles Thomas Mozingo born around 1812 and was married to Rebecca Hoilman of Botetourt County sometime in the 1830's. Her family was from Botetourt County and parents were Simon Hoilman and Mary Morrison. In the 1860 census at age 48 Charles and his family is living in Allegheny County but disappears from records after 1860 (possibly died in the civil war?) and Rebecca married to William Mozingo who I suspect is Charles' brother. Charles is said to have come from the East (i.e. Richmond County) but have not been able to connect him to a family from there. They had 9 children including Simon, Wesley, William H. (my grandfather), Charles W., Thomas J. George W., Mary A., Rachel E. and Elizabeth some of which I have dates of birth for. There are Mozingo's listed for Culpeper, Westmoreland, Allegheny, Rockbridge and Richmond counties. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. One of my ancestor John Pettit (born: 1732) married Anne Fauntleroy (1735), their son John participated to the revolutionary war, close to John Augustine Washington; their daughter married a John Bushrod, father of Hannah Bushrod Washington.
