    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Coffman, Hawkins, Grant Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GBC.2ACE/415.2 Message Board Post: I sent a message earlier but it didn't get posted. As I said before, you may be able to help me. Hugh M. Grant had at least two siblings, Mary Moore and Edwin. Their father was Dr. James Grant (you said he was Hugh's grandfather, but since he was born in 1777, that doesn't seem possible). Anyway, I found Mary and Edwin while pursuing a theory about the parents of my great-grandfather, William Coffman, who was married to Emma Ann Hawkins in Abingdon in 1852 but lived there less than two years. One of his sons was named Edwin Grant, so one possibility was that "Grant" was a family name (perhaps his mother's maiden name), and perhaps "Edwin" was as well. William's mother was named Mary (born in Va.), so I did a search for a Mary Grant and hoped that an Edwin Grant would pop up. And they did—and in the county that had a connection with William, who lived in Roanoke County before relocating to Abingdon in 1851. Unfortunately, she married a James Eakin about 1825. However, she could've been widowed and remarried to a Coffman and had a son by 1830, the year my ggrandfather William was born. Do you have any information about Mary Moore Grant Eakin? Thanks, Sue Coffman
