I already know his age in 1850 and his wife's and children's names. He married Mary A. Lewis on Jan. 7, 1840. His mother-in-law was Mariah Lewis, nee Maria Walton, who married Dr. Andrew Lewis on Oct. 23, 1816. Maria Walton was likely related to Wm. L. Walton of Roanoke County. One of his daughters was likely Fanny G. Walton, who in 1841 married Wm. L. Cook, county clerk in Roanoke County. Wm. Cook was an attorney who was named my great-grandfather's guardian (see below). I also know that Edmundson was in charge of the 1840 census in Roanoke, he was an attorney, and he was the surety for my great-grandfather, William Coffman, beginning in Dec. 1843. I'm trying to find out whether he and William Coffman were related, either directly or by marriage. That knowledge could lead me to my great-grandfather's parents, which is my main concern at this time. Regards, Sue Coffman
