I am again running across on the web that Allen Fleenor of Washington Co., VA married Sarah Wood Hobbs, d/o Woodson and Naomi Myers Wood. That is IMPOSSIBLE! My ggg grandmother, Nancy Willis, widow of John Willis married Allen after his wife, Sarah died. Allen Fleenor and Sarah Hobbs were married 30 Dec 1830 and Allen (wd) and Nancy (wd) were married 25 Nov 1873. The parents of Allen on that license are shown as Benjamin and Sarah Fleenor. The parents are unnamed for Nancy on marriage license but we later found a death record for a Nancy Fleener (Fleenor?) with "our" Nancy's son-in-law, Washington Browning Cunningham shown as friend and informant. We "believe" this is our Nancy Fleenor, second wife of Allen Fleenor and her parents there are shown as Joseph and Betty Winfry. I have not been able to find out anything about a Joseph and Betty Winfry. Elizabeth D. Wood who married Allen and Sarah Hobbs Fleenor's son, John B. Fleenor IS the daughter of Woodson and Naomi Myers Wood. Naomi Myers Wood is 54 in the 1860 census making her born c/a 1806. Woodson and Naomi's daughter, Sarah is 12 years old that year so impossible for her to have married Allen Fleenor. Elizabeth, (Woodson and Naomi's daughter) had already married Allen and Sarah's son, John B. by then. Sarah Hobbs Fleenor, Allen's wife was born c/a 1810/11 so it is impossible for her to be the daughter of Naomi and Woodson, Naomi would have only been c/a 4 or 5 years old then. We have the wills that John Wood, father-in-law of Naomi, wrote leaving his land to heirs if they took care of him, there are two wills and they are on Washington Co, Va website but not with the wills in the regular place. Seems like in the first will, one grandson didn't carry out his responsibilities and if I remember right one had died and in his second will John Wood is naming others as heirs. We have the feeling that this John Wood is somehow connected to our John and Mary Musick Wood (my ggg grandparents) but have not been able to prove that and may be wrong. They are too near in ages to be father and son, they all lived in the same area of Washington Co., VA. Another thing out on web is about Elizabeth Fleenor, d/o Allen and Sarah Hobbs Fleenor. She married my gg grandmother's brother, Henry Dickenson Willis (he died during time of Civil War) and then she married Cyrus Smith and they had several Smith children. I don't know where the marriage to Herman Kestnor comes from that is out there, it would have to be many years after her marriage to Cyrus Smith. Sure would love to see a date for that marriage. I have had info sent to me about Elizabeth Fleenor Willis Smith's sister, Sarah Ann Fleenor Rachel. I enjoy it very much and have it in the section of notebook I have Allen and Sarah Hobbs Fleenor's children in. It is funny in fact that Allen and Sarah Fleenor's daughter, Elizabeth Fleenor and son of John and Nancy Willis, Henry Dickenson Willis married and then Elizabeth's father, Allen and Henry Dickenson's mother, Nancy married after deaths of their spouses. I am researching Woodson Wood and Naomi Myers as were mentioned in the previous message would you or anyone else have any info on them?
