    3. I need help in deciphering handwriting for the mystery LINDSEY who I believe is my gggg grandmother's household. These Lindseys are on the 1810 Washington Co. VA census. P 693 Mystery LINSEY 2M 10-15, 2M 16-25, 1F 10-15, 1F 16-25, 1F 45 and over. P 693 Isaac LINSEY 1M 16-25, 1F under 10, 1F 16-25. P 748 James LINSEY 2M under 10, 1M 26-44, 1F 16-25 If you have access to the Ancestry.com census images, from the main page http://www.ancestry.com go to: Census images online from 1790 to 1920. 1810 US Census Virginia Washington Unknown Townships P6 Line 6 is the name in question. If you don't have Ancestry.com, and you want to take a stab at my MYSTERY LINDSEY 1810, then e-mail me direct, and I will send you a *jpg image of the page. On one index I found, this name was down as Silas LINSEY. Can see that it does look a bit like Silas, but I have never found any more records mentioning a Silas Linsey in this part of the world. Under William Ferris you will see the name in question. Linsey is obvious, but the first name is questionable. Looks like first letter is an L, same as L in Linsey (If you blow up the image, you can see the curly way the writer does the beginning and end of the letter). Next letter is probably e, although it could be an i. Next letter looks to be t, same as the t in Smith above. Next letter is i (or e), and last letter is most likely s (could be a). I have made this into Letis, short for Leticia. The one woman over 45 matches the family of Leticia Lindsey b1755-60, as I know it from later records. Am I seeing things, or can this be true? What I see now, is Letis, not Silas. What do you think? The family fits like a glove for a widow as head of household, and this being Leticia BRECKENRIDGE LINDSEY, widow of Moses LINDSEY Sr. She appears on land records in Montgomery Co. with her husband, as Lettice, Letty, and Letitia. Marriage record 1785 in Montgomery Co. has her as Leticia Breckenridge, d/o George Breckenridge and Ann Doak. Moses died at least before 1812 according to a land record in which he is deceased. If this is his family, and all the other information matches for associated neighbors, then he has died before this census. This is especially significant, because I did not have any direct proof of the Washington Co Moses Lindsey Sr being the same person as the Montgomery Co. Moses Lindsey who married Leticia Breckenridge. If this is Letis /Leticia, that is enough to convince me. Thanks for your help.
