One is a John McBroom who was born in NC c. 1760. He was in Sullivan Co., TN, by 1784 as shown by a land grant. Sullivan, as you may know, shares a boundary with Washington Co., VA. He died in Hawkins Co., TN in 1828. Hawkins was formed from Sullivan Co in 1786. In a 1790 list of voters in Hawkins County, 2 McBrooms are listed: James and John who may or may not be related. Go to the web site listed below to see the tax list for yourself. Maybe these McBrooms were related to yours, particularly John who was born in NC.
