Sutton. At the time of the 1870 census in Washington Co. VA, my grandfather at 7 months of age, was the youngest of the children at the time. John F. went on to father three more children. My grandfather and his next older brother, Edward C. Sutton settled in Gorman, Texas during the oil boom of 1917, opened a dry goods store named Sutton Brothers, with brother John (who soon sold out and returned to Abingdon, VA). Ed and wife, Martha Neal Sutton, had one son, who resides in Austin, Texas. My grandfather and wife, Mattie O'Chine Sutton, had one son as well, John Edward Sutton, born in Bisbee, Arizona July 24, 1916. He died December 16, 1999. Pls contact me and I can provide you with some additional details of our part of the family. I would like to learn more about Will's ancestors. In the aforementioned census, a John Sutton, 85, retired farmer is listed. I assume he was John F.'s father, but that is as far back as I have been able to trace the Sutton side of the family.
