On page 97 of the above Sullivan Co. history, Harmon LATTEUR/LATTURE/LATURE is listed as a Grantee five times in Sullivan Co.: (1) from Abner HUGHES, 6 3/4th acres on 11 Feb 1808 (DB 5:119-120), (2) from the State of TN, 50 acres, 26 Sep 1809 (DB 6:209), (3) and George WADDLE, Personal (Bill of Sale), 29 Jan 1812 (DB 6:186), (4) from Jacob WADDLE, 51 acres, Reedy Creek, 29 Jun 1813 (DB 6:330), (5) from State of TN, 50 acres, Reedy Creek, 26 Sep 1809 (DB 7:132). On page 511 of the above Sullivan Co. history, Annabel (Mrs. Tom) FAUST, 1044 Highridge Drive, Kingsport, TN 37664 states that Harmon LATTURE's father was also named Herman LATTURE who was the son of Thomas LaTour. Gary T. Hawbacker and Clyde L. Groff in their "A New Index, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Before The Federal Census," volume 3, Index to the 1750 Tax Records, page 57, has a Harmon LATURE that was taxed in Mount Joy Township in 1759 and in Volume 5, Index to the 1770 Tax Records, page 102, a Harman LATURE was taxed in Mount Joy Township in 1770. No other "LATURE/LATTURE's" are listed in the books. Mount Joy Township, Lancaster Co., PA was formed from Donegal Township in 1759. Herman LATOORE was issued Warrant # 262 for 100 acres in Donegal Township on 28 Mar 1751. A survey was returned on 07 Sep 1870 for 121 acres & 121 perches and a Patent was then issued to Joseph S. THORN et al (PA Land Patent Book H:69). The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission Web Site at http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bah/dam/ is a great site where you can access very clear copies of most of the State of PA land records such as Warrant Registers and the thousands of original Surveys that were required to obtain a Patent from the State. A nearby Survey for Christian SWARTZ (PA Survey Book A10:76) has Christian's 1744 Survey situated on Chiquesalunga Creek. This creek was most likely what is now called Little Chickies Creek. Little Chickies Creek forms the boundary line between Mount Joy Township and Rapho Township to the east. This tract was expanded to 177 acres (see PA SB A10:75 above). Bob Ford Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
