Also trying to find where to look for orphan records. Thanks for any help, AnneLieberman@yahoo.com
Anne, The Washington Co. Historical Society has published a wonderful resource called: "Guardian Bonds Washington County, Virginia 1780-1872" Abstracted by Gerald H. Clark from the court clerk's records and published in 1984. These are records of guardians or committees who were appointed under bond to manage and protect the property of orphaned childern and others who were for any reason incapable of managing their own affairs. I don't remember the cost but it was extremely reasonable and I certainly have had much use from it, referring to it quite often. I would be glad to do a quick look up for you. I think you can order a copy from the website publications list. Linda
