I believe this cemetery is probably located at the headwaters of Little Moccican Creek on Clinch Mountain near what is now called Hidden Valley Road. This road leads to the top of Clinch Mountain and Hidden Valley Lake. Take 19 and Alt. 58 (Porterfield Highway) out of Abingdon, VA. , going N. West, cross North Fork Holston River (new bridge under construction), continue past Poor Valley Road (Brumley Gap Rd. now), near the top of the mountain look for Hidden Valley rd. (Game Preserve sign) on Right. This is where the Nunley and Reynolds families have lived for many years. Many years ago my father and other teenagers used to ride horses up Brumley Creek to the top of the mountain and go to a huge "teetering rock" which would actually teeter when they walked out on it. (Remember the "teetering rock" in Lil' Abner ?) The real reason they rode to the top was not see the rock but the daughters of a man who lived on top of the mountain where the clover fields were located. There is a sixty acre lake on top of the mountain built by a man named Bordwine who also built the road from the end of the old road to the top of the mountain. My uncle worked as a watchman on the project one winter and was isolated up there during times of snow because the road was impassable. When driving up Hidden Valley Road, one can observe optical illusions, house trailers appear to be unlevel, I know they're not, but they sure look like it! There may be "Haints and Spirits" at the cemetery, so be very careful!! G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.
