I am taking a break in the family genealogy (getting source documents transcribed & online) to work on a couple of new projects for the web site. I think several people on the various western NC, VA and east TN lists may be interested in the one following. First, I am abstracting from Prince George's County, MD Inventory Book DD1 1741-1744 lists of debts due to the various estates. So far, about half through, I have about 200 names. Not all are residents of PG county, i.e., Augustus WASHINGTON owed an estate 5 pistoles, but when they are not, most seem to give the residence of the debtor. Also there are comments on some of them such as "Deceased, no effects" & "Run". I assume "run" means the person left town. I proofread the first half yesterday and hopefully will get the remainder typed tonight to proof Wednesday (my night out..LOL). Once that is online, I will get to DD2. Oh, a point. The people listed are usually just people who owed money to the deceased when he/she died. They usually are not hard core debtors...and since so much of the economy of that time was tied up in trade/barter till the next crop was harvested there is an intersting group of people from all social strata. Second and I need some help on this. There are many, many slaves listed on these inventories giving, usually, name & age. I plan on going through all the inventories again to abstract these in hopes of helping some of their descendents. Does anyone know of a "clearinghouse" for data of this sort? I will start that after the DD1 is "published". Best of wishes, Billy
