I am looking for any information about the first Taylors into Taylor's Valley. I descend from this line. My great-grandfather, Melvin Taylor lived there, my grandfather, William G. Taylor was born there, as was my mother, Pearl Edna Taylor Shaw. From my understanding my great-great-grandfather Henry Taylor moved there after his brother or uncle Joseph Taylor moved there and built the first house -- thus the name Taylor's Valley. Joseph was a Church of the Brethren Preacher. And I know they migrated from Ashe County, NC, just across the mountain, but I cannot find them prior to that. Does anyone know if there are records stating any of this information? My great-grandparents, Melvin and Amanda Sheets Taylor are buried there as well as my grandparents on my father's side -- Joseph and Chloie Sheets Shaw.
