VA I am trying to connect my Hutton's to the Washington Co. VA Huttons. My gg-grandfather Moses H. Hutton's death certificate names his parent as Thomas C. Hutton & Mary Hill. The 1900 Indiana Census has Moses H. and his mother and father's BP as VA. There is a Thomas Hutton in the Washington Co. census in 1820 & 1830, but not in the 1840 census. My speculation on the ancestor's of Moses H. Hutton being associated with the Washington Co. VA Huttons is based on migration patterns with other families from Washington Co. VA. The data indicates that there is a relationship with Moses Hutton who married Nancy Jinks, and lived in Washington County, VA. I know that several of this Moses Hutton's children migrated to Missouri. I also know that Sarah Jane Hutton, the daughter of Moses Hutton married Augustus Wedding and they migrated to Owen County, Indiana. Living in Owen County, Indiana in 1840 were Thomas Hutton, Moses Hutton, and Augustus Wedding. In the 1850 Census Augustus Wedding 40 & wife Jane 34, both from VA. plus 6 of their children are living in Putnam Co. IN. The oldest was born in VA & the next 5 were born in IN. In the Owen Co. Indiana 1850 Census are Moses H. Hutton, his wife Eliza and their 4 children; also, Thomas Hutton, his wife Mary, and their three children. There is also Elijah Hutton 28, from VA, his wife V. (Vernilda) and an infant daughter. Moses H. Hutton and Elijah may have been brothers, as Moses H. named a son Elijah. Also reinforcing the relationship between the Augustus Wedding family and Moses H. Hutton, one of Moses H.'s sons was named Augustus. According to the ages of Augustus' children in 1850, the oldest girl Elenor E.J. 14, was born in VA in 1836, and the next child Mary E. 11 was born in IN in 1839, so they must have left Virginia between 1836 and 1839. In the 1860 Census Thomas Hutton and his family are still in Owen Co., Indiana. Augustus Wedding and Moses H. Hutton and their families are now in Macon Co., Missouri living close to each other. In the 1870 Census Augustus and his family are still in Macon Co., MO, but Moses H. is no longer there. However, Moses H. Hutton and his family are in the 1880 Census in Putnam County, Indiana, where Augustus Wedding and his family were living in 1850. I have not been able to see the 1870 Indiana Census, but speculate that Moses H. Hutton was in Indian in 1870. I will greatly appreciate any ideas or information regarding these families.
