My David ANDERSON was Scotch-Irish and came from Belfast, Ireland, according to family tradition. He was said to have been "a soldier in the Revolutionary War" and VA marriage records show that he was married to Elizabeth HARDY in 1782 in Amherst Co., VA. I can find NO records to validate his having served in the Rev. War from Virginia, as there were quite a few David Andersons from Virginia listed in National Archives records. >From Amherst Co. (tax lists), I can find no definite proof of where the family resided until they show up in Washington Co., VA, in the 1810 census. There also is a James ANDERSON shown as living not far from the David ANDERSON family in that census whom I believe may have been a brother to David. Then, approximately five years later, David bought land in Hawkins Co., TN. I have been unable to find any other records regarding the families' time spent in Washington Co....
