My last move in Iowa was in Dec. 1998 to Stuart, IA (just north of you). I was sick most of the time we were there, recovering from surgery and then we moved in Dec. 1999 back to Nebraska. Wish I would have remembered that you lived in Greenfield, as I did go there to get license plates, etc. My ancestor was John Robinson who married Lydia Cole of Washington Co., VA and lived/died in Carter Co., TN. I have some theories on his ancestry, but nothing proven yet. In my notes I show that a John Robinson, b. ca 1730 d. August 1817 had children: Mitchell, Moses, John, David, Elizabeth, Hannah and Jane. With the girl named Jane it is possible that the contested will you are viewing pertains to either that daughter (thus making the men contesting it her brothers or half-brothers), or it could be as you suggested the widow (2nd wife) of their father, John Robinson. I would suggest that you get as much as you can photocopied or on microfilm to view of the contested papers involved in this will. Usually they will contain very valuable information, such as relationships. As for newspaper accounts, I don't know which papers if any would have survived in either Washington or Wythe counties. Certainly that would be an option, but the actual documents would be more valuable. Most certainly Mitchell, John, James, Moses, Alexander and John Edmondson were related to her. I feel that my John Robinson links into this family somewhere, just have not put my finger on the right place as yet. Good luck!
