Although I did get interrupted during the process, I enjoyed learning about J. H. Earnest. I must say I did not find any information about his military service in detail but will persue it another day before responding to you. Your assumption about Brook Hall is correct. An Abingdon doctor now owns it and we all hope he will be able to restore it so that at least on some occassions, can be open to the public.
