    1. [VAWASHIN] SCC Update 4/13/02
    2. Whew! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I have added the following counties to the database (8,495 rows of data so far=8,495 name entries): Orange - completed this big one, surnames beginning F-Y Pasquotank Perquimons Person Warren Washington Watauga That leaves only Wake county which will be a monster addition, 2 pages of 2 columns/page, and after that going through the Alpha index to find any missing people from the County index. NOTE: I did this version in a somewhat different language, XHTML vs straight HTML., though I have a copy in both formats at the main index page but try the first one, XHTML, first. If it doesn't view correctly just hit your BACK button on the browser and click on the "HTML" version directly below. I have tried this on 4 browsers and it worked on all 4: IE 5.5, Opera 6.1, Netscape 6.2, and AOL 7 (a funky mixture of Netscape & IE). I will try it later on the daughter's PC with Netscape 4.2. If it doesn't work, please send me an email, bjmarkland@aol.com, OFF LIST telling me the browser type & version (usually you can click on HELP, ABOUT to find that info out). Also I have redone the Transcripts/History/Letters portion of the site using a Cascading Style Sheet to get a common look to all of them. Most, if not all browsers, should work on that. My concern is readability. Take a look at them if you have time and drop me a line, OFF LIST, whether you like the background, font darkness, spacing, etc. The site URL is still at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~familyinformation/ and, as always, feel free to share this with anyone you think may be interested. Sandy, yes the Davidson files are already posted. Harold, I have the Yazoo county, MS page copied and will get to it soon, after Wake, NC and several TN & VA counties. If you want a text copy, Mike DeLoach has posted the NC claims on USGenWeb at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/ncstate.htm#military and the Carter county, TN file at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tn/carter/cartermil.htm (I really think he is hoping I get carried away like for NC and do all of Tennessee! <grin>) I will be doing taxes tomorrow (my sentiment is, "Why waste a perfectly good last minute"!) so it may be late Monday or Tuesday before I can reply to any mail. Best of wishes to all, Billy
