    1. Re: Researching the Lockett (Lockette) / Broady family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GBC.2ACE/1540.1.2 Message Board Post: Robert, Something a little strange is occuring here unless I have made a huge error in my research. I have Mary Lockett being a daughter of Hester and Walter Lockett. She lived with them in 1880 according to the Federal Census of that time. She is listed as a daughter and was 5. This gives her the same birthdate as the Mary Lockett Joseph married +/- a year: WCV: JOSEPH SAMUEL (?) LOCKETT, COLORED MALE, MARRIED TO MARY LOCKETT, B. 27 NOV 1876, D. 20 DEC 1926, 50Y 24D, B. WCV, S/O WALTER LOCKETT, WCV & HESTER CALVER, WCV (GLADE SPRING) I also have Joseph living with Walter and Hester for the same census and he is listed as a son, age 3. Now either there are two Mary Locketts or Joseph married his sister. Here is the 1880 census summary of both: Name: Mary Lockett Age: 5 Estimated birth year: <1875> Birthplace: Virginia Relationship to head-of-household: Daughter Home in 1880: Saltville, Washington, Virginia Marital status: Single Race: Black Gender: Female Father's name: Walter Lockett Father's birthplace: VA Mother's name: Ester Lockett Mother's birthplace: VA Name: Joseph Lockett Age: 3 Estimated birth year: <1877> Birthplace: Virginia Relationship to head-of-household: Son Home in 1880: Saltville, Washington, Virginia Marital status: Single Race: Black Gender: Male Father's name: Walter Lockett Father's birthplace: VA Mother's name: Ester Lockett Am I reading this wrong, Robert?
