This Thomas Berry was the son of William Berry (b.ca 1744 - d. 6 Mar 1781 at the Skirmish at Whitzell's Mill) and Mary [possibly McSpadden] (b. ? - d. bet 1810 & 1820). This William Berry was a son of Thomas Berry (1718-1799). All of my BERRY research on William and his father and grandfather (James Berry ca 1690-ca 1756) can be found posted to the following website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~berry/newupload/pages/report.htm [To keep the Thomas Berry who m. Jean McQuown separate from other Thomas Berry's in Washington Co, VA, I usually call him, Thomas Berry "Legatee" -- that is how he is cited in a land survey, "Thomas Berry, Legatee of William Berry, deceased"] I can track Thomas Berry/Jean McQuown on tax records and census records through 1830 in Washington Co, VA. On the 1810 census they had 8 children. They remained in Washington through the 1830 census and then I don't know what happened to them. One of the children of Thomas Berry/Jean McQuown was undoubtedly Moses Berry (b. 1803 - d. 1836 Clay Co, IL) who married Dorcas Edmondson on 13 Apr 1830 in Washington Co, VA. [Moses/Dorcas children were: Robert Edmondson Berry (1831-1906) m. Rachel A. Wills James Edmondson Berry (1833-?) poss m. Nancy Caroline Mock Thomas Thompson Berry (1836-1906) m. [1] Sarah Jane Duff [2] Emma Jane Haynes I have been unable to identify any further Berry/McQuown children. I have been unable to tie Jean McQuown to any of the McQuown families also in Washington Co, VA, but she was likely related somehow (possibly a sister) to the Isaac McQuown who married [1] Ann Orr [2] Margaret (Dryden) Hope. But I stress that I can't positively identify her parents. Would be very, very interested in ANY information you have on Thomas Berry/Jean McQuown.
