    3. To Washington County cousins, According to Gordon Aronhime in "The 1772 Cummings Petition, Location of the Homes of the Signers", Historical Soc. of Washington Co. VA, Publication Series II, No. 16, May 1979, p. 8, there is an Alexander BRECKINRIDGE. "Moved to Wolf Hills as perhaps its first settler in early 1770, having built his cabin there in November, 1769. The original cabin still stands and may well be the oldest standing man-made artifact in present Washington County. He sold this land, when he moved to Kentucky, to John Balfour, son-in-law of Parson Cummings and his brother, Andrew Balfour. They built the beautiful stone home about 1795. The 1769 cabin stands behind and barely to the west of the stone house. This is located on 670 near the intersection with 794. Breckinridge was at King's Mountain Battle and took along his large (for his age) son, George, who was only twelve years of age!" (King's Mountain data, letters from George's grandson, C.E. Breckinridge, Guilford Court House, N.C., to Gordon Aronhime in 1960-1963). QUESTIONS.... What is Wolf Hills? I think I should know that. Which present day place is it near? Is this cabin still standing? 1979 was a while ago. I would love to see a picture of it, also the stone home there (hint, hint, to Lee Hearl). Does anyone know any more about this Alex. Breckinridge? He was, I believe, the brother of my gggg grandmother, Leticia Breckinridge Lindsey, who I found on the 1810 WCV census, as Letis Linsey. That would make Alex my gggg grand uncle (or something like that). I don't have a good detailed map of Washington County that shows the smaller roads and cemeteries. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help, everyone. Katie _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.
