Howdy-do, Thanks again to G. Lee Hearl who lives in Abingdon. Much obliged for the Wolf Creek info. I will be getting a good map of Washington Co. VA, after all of this, being that I live in BC Canada, kind of far away. I post this to the list because it may help someone else who doesn't live there. Here's where to go for your free maps: Call 804-786-2838 for Dept of Transportation and request a Washington Co. VA map. [other counties will work too]. You can also request the Scenic Roads map and the State Highways map, all for free. Mine is in the mail. Will see what detail there is. USGS maps are still available on line, and other map sites. If you don't live in the area, it is imperative that you understand the lay of the land such as the creeks, rivers, mountains, and roads to find the ancestral pathways.
