Thank you Katie, Yes, LC Newland was a tanner, & in 1855 became the mayor of Abingdon. He also bought the Wills house in 1855. His first wife was Eliza Hathorn.By 1861 he married Sarah Minnick & left for IL & ended up with his youngest son fighting for the North, his son in law, James Deadmore, a Capt. for the South & his oldest living son going west to mine for gold. Sarah is the one I'm having a hard time locating information on. Her parents were Wm. Minnick & Sarah Spiors. This is my brick wall.
