The Revolutionary War monument at the Smyth County courthouse states that it is dedicated to the soldiers and war heroes from the area that eventually became part of Smyth County in 1832. I assume this means that soldiers from the area of Washington County that remained part of Washington County are not included in the list of names on that monument.
