Hi listers, I'm new to the list. I recently found that a gggrandfather of mine was said to have been born in Bristol TN, but our family Bible says he was born in VA. Since Bristol is on the border I was wondering if his family may be from Washington Co VA rather than Sullivan Co. TN. His name is James M. CROSS born about 1818. I'm looking for his parents and siblings if there are any. When he went to Carter Co. TN I'm not sure, his marriage to Lovinia BOWERS was in 1841, he was a farmer. I have all the family information in Carter Co. His wife's family were early settlers there. Apparently, he used the name of James M. SMITH in Carter Co., yet it is our understanding his surname was CROSS. Is anyone familiar with this family? Joan Williams, Miami, FL.
