Ok, I have found some interesting info the last couple of weeks. I called a woman in Bristol, she goes by Cricket(kinda cute, huh?) and I had her tell me about my grandmother and the family. She was my grandmothers sister in law when my grandmother was married the first time. Anyways she told me that my great great grandparents were divorced or at least separated. She said they hadn't lived together for years before either of them died. So I called to see if there was a divorce record but there wasn't. She couldn't find a will in Patrick Henry Lewis' name but did a reverse search for his wife Martha and found one. The name was Mathias Lewis and it had that he left money to his ESTRANGED wife Martha and I knew it was the right one because Ethel Vickers was listed as a child heir. She was my great grandmother. So anyways, I found this guy on a census as a child named Ison Lewis and then he was known as Patton H Lewis and Patrick Henry Lewis and now Mathias! Is it common for people in this area to change their names? My grandmother(Patrick's granddaughter) was born as Charma Mae Vickers and she changed it herself to Charmie Jo.
