They married 1812 in Wash Co. VA and owned property in the same area. Their house was located at the "Delmar crossing", ie intersection of 711/712, 711 being the road going through Alvarado and 712 (at that point) being the Bluff Hollow Road. Route 713 (now Alex Road) "Y's" off Bluff Hollow Road at Cedar Bluff Methodist Church. Christopher and Mary's daughter, Elizabeth, married Wm. H. Lloyd and their oldest daughter was Letitia. In 1862, Letitia married Jefferson Collins, son of John F. Collins and Catherine Newman. John F. Collins was the son of Patrick Collins. Some years after Elizabeth Catron Lloyd's death (c. 1861)and the death of her husband (c. 1863) her property, which came to her through the estate of her father, Christopher Catron/Katron/Ketring, was divided among her 3 children. Letitia Lloyd Collins petitioned the court to allow her to have the portion of her mother's property which bordered the Collins property, so she and her husband, Jefferson, would hold deed to a larger tract of land. (I could only assume that Jefferson had "laid claim" to the portion of his father's land which bordered the Catron-Lloyd land.) A search of Chancery Court records revealed a hand-drawn map of Elizabeth Catron Lloyd's land and detailed the division of same between her three children. The land is located on Bluff Hollow Road; what was Elizabeth Catron Lloyd's home is now owned by Thomas Slavic --- a large farm house with limestone chimneys which sits below the road on the east side. According to the map, the land Letitia Collins was given lay on out Bluff Hollow Road past the (now) Slavic home. The land on which the present-day Depew home now sits was also a part of this same (Catron-Lloyd) tract. I hope this piece of information is of help to someone. By the way, it would appear, from everything I have been able to understand, that "Bluff Bridge" was the bridge (or river crossing) nearest the settlement of Alvarado, that is, lying west of Alvarado, where the present day road (Rte 710) crosses the South Fork of the Holston River. There is a rock bluff there, and a post office was likely to have been located nearby, to serve that (Alvarado) area. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
