Sorry I cannot help with the Hughes or Childers names but I am wondering if your John Clark is related to John J. Clark who married Susan Fulcher Carpenter. They had children John J. Clark and Susan Margaret Clark. The son - John J. Clark Jr who was born in 1847, later married Mary C. Ryan in 1876.
