    1. Re: Wheelers of Rhea Co., TN & Washington Co., VA, Bath Co., KY
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Wheeler Friend Meadows Crabtree Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GBC.2ACE/1431.1.1 Message Board Post: Verna: Glad to hear from you. Correct me if I am wrong on any of this. I have been searching for a document to prove that Ailsey Wheeler (who married David Meadows) is the daughter of Mary "Mollie" Friend and William Wheeler. I haven't found definite proof, but I believe all the Wheelers that moved from Washington County, VA to Rhea Co., TN were related. (Possibly with the exception of Nancy Wheeler who was married to Miller Lee.) I believe your Ailsey was named after Mary Friend's sister Alcy/Alice Friend, who married John Crabtree July 29, 1800 in Washington Co., VA. Alcy/Alice Friend is named as a sister of Mary "Mollie" Friend in an autobiography of Thomas W. Parsons. I have your Ailsey's birth year as 1800/1802 which would make her roughly 18-20 years old for the 1820 Census. (I don't have a source for her birth year, hoping you do, maybe from a later census.) Of all the Wheeler households in the 1820 Census for Washington County, VA, there are three housholds with a female between the ages of 16-26. One of those, the Henry Wheeler household can be ruled out since Henry and his 16-26 year old wife show up again in the 1830 Census 10 years older and with a son. The female in Thomas Wheelers household is surely the wife of Thomas Wheeler living with their 2 young sons. That leaves the Mary (Friend) Wheeler household as the best possibility for a match for Ailsey. Mary had 2 females 16-26 years old living with her. I am very interested if you have any additional info or sources, particularly regarding Ailsey Wheeler's birth year. Ruth
