So, I called his daughter and asked her about the burial location of George and Louisa. She said they were in Mock Cemetery Damascus, Va. I looked in my cemetery book of Washington Co. Va. They are not listed. The person I talked to (Hoy's daughter) said she had a cousin that had worked on the family tree. He is dead but she would call his sister and find out who had his papers and would let me know so I could tell you. Mabe someone in the family could show you where Geo. grave is buried. Mock Cem. is an old cem. Hope this helps Jerry Belisle Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. I'm a Wampler descendant and have Campbell on my Greenway line that in Blount CO, Tn, is closely related. I have a few Isaac Anderson notes that may prove useful, although I can't say that I know more about them or know if they're yours: 1 Andrew SHIELDS Witof will:JohnHall/Sam.Young;wit:IsaacAnderson, Wm. Brown d: Aft. March 23, 1790 rowan CO, NC, will; Wit to will:Sarah (x) Hall >From another researcher's notes: James McNutt (1771-1852) is listed in the standard McNutt genealogies as the son of Robert McNutt. Descendents of one of James' children listed his grandparents as Robert McNutt (d.1811, Blount Co.) and ?Jane/Janet? Wear.A Robert McNutt was one of the founders of New Providence Church in Blount County. Several of my McNutts were married by Rev. Isaac Anderson of New Prov. Church and one of James McNutt's sons A.G. (Gamble) McNutt received his theological training from Isaac Anderson. So they all seem to have belonged to New Providence Presbyterian Church. P 97. The Rev. J. J. Robinson in his Memoir of Dr. Anderson says that the charter membershp of New Providence was 18. Robert McNutt, Arthur Beatty, John Hannah, and Wm. Hannah were elders. Joseph HART was the first clerk of the session. The membership in 1811 was 217 according to Joseph HART, who didn't keep full records until 1840. The 1797 report to Gen. Assembly says New Providence congregation had 60 famlies and was able to pay $170.00 per year. Gideson Blackburn became, in 1802, the first missionary formGen. Assembly to the Cherokees & est. schools at Hiwassee & Sale Creek. He resigned as pastor of New Providence & Eusebia churches in 1810. Isaac ANDERSON was installed as pastor in 1812 and served until his death, in 1857. Although he was never the organizer & builder that Blackburn, was, the church toninued to grow. The log church was replace in 1829 by a fine stone building w/galleries on 3 sides It was samll and on special occasions it was necessary to use the campground, which wasat the corner of Harper & Aluminum avenues. P 101 BETHEL CHURCH was org. by Dr. Isaac ANDERSON in Sept. 1853, and became officially known as Rockford in 1856. CLARKS< CALDWELLS, COWANS, MCCAULLYS & McCULLEYS were among the first members. Thomas HART, son of the first clerk of New Providence, was the first clerk. The Rev. John M. CALDWELL was the first regular pastor and the Rev. E. W. HALL was the last. The present building was sold to the Wesley-Ann Methodist Church. My George B. Hart b ca 1816 TN had daughter (Nancy Brown Hart b 1852 TN) who married Wm. Douglas Watkins b 1843 TN of Blount/Loudon CO, and whose father was Wm. Watkins b 1805 TN.) Likely my Wm. Watkins is the same who is mentioned in 1839 papers of a Benj. Watkins that named a James M.BELL as adm. 1830 Warren CO, TN, census w/Ben. & Wm. Watkins Anderson, Isaac 00110001-0102001 http://www.tngenweb.org/warren/1830.txt History of Blount CO, TN:From War Trail to Landing Strip:1795-1955," revised by Inzez E. Burns, Sponsored by Mary Blount Ch. DAR; TN Historical Comm., 1957. P 114. In 1831, trustees were appt. for Mt. Pleasant meeting house-Peter, Moses, and George SNIDER, Frederick EMMETT, Isaac HART, and George CAYLOR. Locally this church was called Tuckaleechee. Campground, and the campground was patronized by people from Wear's Cove, Miller's Cove and Cades Cove, until about 1880-90 as none of the other named communities had campgrounds. P. 134. Mr. Parham said that the first school in Maryville was taught on lot No 120 on the corner of Jail and Cates Street (near the spring) by the Rev. Mark MOORE or Josiah P. SMITH about 1797. (The Rev. Mark MOORE was a Meth. Circuit Rider on Holston Circuit in 1786 who dropped out of the confeence records until 1820.) It is not kown where he livd except that Bishop Asbury mentioned stopping at his home near Maryville. P 135. Whatever the source of funds, the school opened in 1808 with the Rev. Mark MOORE as teacher. He was to procure a teacher of Latin and Greek. It seems that at first the school was sharing a lot with the gnlish school and that the arrangement was not satisfactory and they then moved to lot No. 110, formerly thesite of Sterling Coal CO. The identity of this English school is not known but was probably the New Providence Church School. "School shall be opened with prayer; no student shall use profance and oscene language; they shall not attend horse races, balls, or frolicking assemblies and must attend divine services on the Sabbath." In 1809 John CALDWELL & Wm. MOORE were teachers and in 1811 Josiah P. SMITH was discontinued. In Spet 1811, a letter came from the Rev. Isaac ANDERSON recommending one Matthew L. DIXON. Additional trustees appt. in 1819 were: David CALDWELL< Robert HOUSTON, and John McGHEE. (Gideon BLACKBURN had probably resigned when he left Maryville in 1810.) IN 1813, the Rev. Isaac AnDERSON was elected principal and served an average of 15 students until 1817, when he became connected with the Female Academy. Some of the outstanding students mentioned in the early records were: Jacob FOUTE, who became clerk of the court; John FINLEY GILLESPY, a prominent lawyer & politician; and Wm. EAGLETON, who was principal of Rittenhouse Academy at Kingston, instructor at Maryville College, and later pastor of the Presby. Church I Murfreesboro. A Rev. Anderson is also known to have married a Hook to a Hart in 1832 Maryville, Tn. (I have a HOOKER on my direct line, as well, and their children married into the Hart/Watkins family.) Please contact me directly for more discussion: famtreasures9@cox.net doris in VA (I'm intersted in the Hart line here as my descent is via a George B. Hart b ca 1816 TN who married an Ellen Ekins/Akins/whatever and moved to Blount/Loudon CO, Tn.)

    3. Susan, We have very similar names, but apparently different family. There is a possibility that you are seeking a second generation of Esther Anderson as she is my GG Grandmother, and my Esther's father was James Claiborne Anderson. No time right now, but I think we have related families. Descendants of James Claiborne Anderson Generation No. 1 1. JAMES CLAIBORNE1 ANDERSON (ANCESTORA)1,2 was born 04 Apr 1758 in Scotland3, and died 01 Apr 1847 in Washington County, Virginia. He married REBECCA GRAY3 1784 in Washington County, Virginia, daughter of JOHN GRAY and JEAN MC CAIN. She was born 1764 in Scotland3, and died 1826 in Washington County, Virginia. Notes for JAMES CLAIBORNE ANDERSON: James emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland, to Virginia in 1773, taking an oath of allegiance on his arrival at Philadelphia. 1. [VAWASHIN] Abraham Peters who cosigned with James Bland on James' marriage license 31 July 1813
    2. Lee Anne Center
    3. James Bland and Idia Dawson's 31 July 1813 marriage license/certificate has Abraham Peters cosigning with James. Has anyone researched Abraham? I'd be interested in what you've learned. I noticed that there is a puzzling family tree on Ancestry.com that lists an Abraham Peters (b. 1752 Augusta/Rockingham Co. VA; d. abt. 1814 Washington Co. VA) who married wife 2 Elizabeth Waide on 25 Oct. 1813 in Monroe Co. VA. However, if this particular Abraham Peters died about 1814, he could not be the father of the child listed for him - Catherine Peters - as she was b. in 1820 in Monroe Co. VA. So I have to ask, was this a younger Abraham Peters who married Catherine Peters? I am interested in learning more about the Abraham Peters that cosigned with James Bland on James' marriage license and if the Abraham Peters who married Elizabeth Waide is a different one, about him. I have Ancestry.com, so I am in the process of looking for source records and family tree information about him there, but as you can see some of the trees contain contradictory information. 3. If you have a VA marriages index, do you see a marriage listing for James R. Bland and Virginia ______? Virginia may have had more than one given name, but this is the one I know. I do not know her surname. James and Virginia are listed on James Madison Bland's 11 August 1845 Washington Co. VA marriage certificate as his parents. Lee Anne

    1. [VAWASHIN] Andrew Jackson Rosenbaum
    2. Hello, I'm trying to find the parents of my gggrandfather, Andrew Jackson Rosenbaum. He was born on May 16, 1840 in Wythe County. He is listed in the 1860 Washington Co Census with his wife, the former Nancy Lanter. I have seen before where someone had listed his parents as David and Catherine Rosenbaum and they did have a son named Andrew, but his name was Andrew David and he was born in December of 1840. You can see him listed with his parents in the 1860 Washington County census also. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! Cathy

I knew them when they lived in Bristol and I'm now trying to trace them back further. I know Grady worked on the Virginia Creeper and Ella worked out of the Buchanan House making sandwiches. This is how they met. Grady lived a few doors down from the Buchanan's with his mother Judy? I think was her name. If anyone has some info that would help It would be much appreciated.
