David was not born in Washington county as the Rev. War petition for pension of his son Colonel William states William was born in Pa. David and a brother John were partners in land in Frederick/Berkeely county Va. and David with another brother Joseph came to Washington county and apparently built the fort there around Lodi by 1771; after the war the other brother John came but they left Robert whose tavern entertained George Washington and is on the Historic Registry on Back creek around Hedgeville. I know of no proof that the original William was born in Ireland in 1690; do you have verification of this? Who is the William listed as the son of William senior and Catherine Patterson and she remarried a Jenkins in Berkeley county and died in Washington county after granting a power of attorney to her son John prior to his move to Washington county. You made a lot of progress going thru this most confusing family history. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I descend from the John brother and partner to David who was in Berkeley/frederick county Va. c. 1770s and both moved to Washington county, Va. Both were sons of William and Catherine Patterson Snodgrass, she later married again , and it is a stone celebrating him in the Martinsburg (W)Va. area around Hedgesville in the Mt. Zion Church cemetery. Are you aware of the Source Books which have all the marriages, deeds, wills, etc. of the Snodgrass group organized by state, then county, then by date? 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: oldbrewer Surnames: Taylor. Miller, Wylie Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.washington/423.4/mb.ashx Message Board Post: These Taylor names are the same as my Taylor family. My 4th g-grandfather's name was Thomas (Frank) Taylor and he had a brother named Joshua. Their father was Jacob Taylor. Thomas Married Elizabeth Miller, daughter of David and Martha Harris Wylie Miller. Both of them died in Blount County, TN, 1811 and 1818. I do not have any proof of Thomas's birth date but some put it as 1748, but I think it would be more realistic to be 1760-1770. The family names used were, Thomas, Walter, Isaac, Monroe, John, Andrew, David, Amanda, Henry and Elizabeth. If any of this could fit your family please let me know?
