    1. [VAWASHIN] Va. genealogy information websites!
    2. Hi all, I thought I would mention a couple of my Virginia genealogy websites I find and transcribe all of the information myself. I have many sites and webpages but I am giving you two of them and they have links to the other sites. Old Virginia Obituaries, 1790-1940: http://virginiaobits.homestead.com/ and Miscellaneous Virginia Genealogy: http://vagenealogy.homestead.com/ there is a search engine on the main pages of both sites so it will be easier to look for your ancestors and hopefully find them or you can just browse the pages. On one of my sites connected to the Miscellaneous Virginia Genealogy site I list Va. deaths from 1897-1912 the msising years when the state did not keep any records of deaths or births. And just the other day I got up to 4,000 deaths on that site! There is a link to this site on the Miscellaneous one. I find this information mostly from do research at the Library of Va. where I go to do searches mostly for other people and when I can for my site and my own Va. families. I hope you find ancestors on my sites! God bless, Beth deliaesther@att.net

John Casper STOEVER and the Warwick Lutheran Church: Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church also called "Old Warwick Lutheran Church" is located in Brickerville, Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County. Elizabeth Township was formed from Warwick Township in 1757. In 1742/1743 Pastor STOEVER began records for this church. In 1744 land was granted and the first log church built. In 1806/1807 the present brick church was built. Church records, 1743 (or 1730?) to date are held by the congregation. The old (1743-1857) records are in German script. Rev. STOEVER retired from the pastorate of the church in 1754. Within a few months after Pastor STOEVER came to Brickerville, (1743), he was instrumental in the purchase of twenty-nine acres from John Penn, Thomas Penn and Richard Penn. With the acquisition of the twenty-nine acres, the congregation erected a crude, log-cabin church, according to traditional sources. The Emanuel church cemetery is one of the oldest in Lancaster County. A list of family names in the first church record spans the years from 1731 to 1772 and the names in the index are the names of the fathers of the children baptized during that time. The list also contains a few names of adults who were baptized. [The list of names includes Martin SPICKLER (the sponsor with his wife of Herman & Barbara's marriage)]. I really got some clues to check out now and surnames to watch out for also. I had been told years back that Harmon LATTURE ( all spellings) was the son of Hermannus "Herman" LaTOUR b.abt.1770 France? and died Abt.1774 in Mount Joy, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was married twice also. Going by hear say the org. spelling of this name was LaTOUR. Just thought I would write that other info above in case one day someone else is looking and will see it and it will help them with clues to. That LATOORE spelling..that's a new one I haven't seen! I think I'll keep looking around in Pa. and try to work my way forward to Va. You sure gave me info to keep me busy for a long time and things to look for. Thank you for the website links. Thanks for being on the message board and touching my soul in ways I can't express and for all you kindness. Many Blessing to you! Sincerely, Theresa Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. His present marker has the following inscription: Harmon Latture, Pvt. Furry's Co. Grubbs, Pa. Rgmt. Rev. War November 18, 1833 Born Lancaster Co. Pa. 1756 son of Herman la Tour Huguenot Immigrant Who Came to America on the ship Phoenix 1749. On page 97 of the above Sullivan Co. history, Harmon LATTEUR/LATTURE/LATURE is listed as a Grantee five times in Sullivan Co.: (1) from Abner HUGHES, 6 3/4th acres on 11 Feb 1808 (DB 5:119-120), (2) from the State of TN, 50 acres, 26 Sep 1809 (DB 6:209), (3) and George WADDLE, Personal (Bill of Sale), 29 Jan 1812 (DB 6:186), (4) from Jacob WADDLE, 51 acres, Reedy Creek, 29 Jun 1813 (DB 6:330), (5) from State of TN, 50 acres, Reedy Creek, 26 Sep 1809 (DB 7:132). On page 511 of the above Sullivan Co. history, Annabel (Mrs. Tom) FAUST, 1044 Highridge Drive, Kingsport, TN 37664 states that Harmon LATTURE's father was also named Herman LATTURE who was the son of Thomas LaTour. Gary T. Hawbacker and Clyde L. Groff in their "A New Index, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Before The Federal Census," volume 3, Index to the 1750 Tax Records, page 57, has a Harmon LATURE that was taxed in Mount Joy Township in 1759 and in Volume 5, Index to the 1770 Tax Records, page 102, a Harman LATURE was taxed in Mount Joy Township in 1770. No other "LATURE/LATTURE's" are listed in the books. Mount Joy Township, Lancaster Co., PA was formed from Donegal Township in 1759. Herman LATOORE was issued Warrant # 262 for 100 acres in Donegal Township on 28 Mar 1751. A survey was returned on 07 Sep 1870 for 121 acres & 121 perches and a Patent was then issued to Joseph S. THORN et al (PA Land Patent Book H:69). The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission Web Site at http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bah/dam/ is a great site where you can access very clear copies of most of the State of PA land records such as Warrant Registers and the thousands of original Surveys that were required to obtain a Patent from the State. A nearby Survey for Christian SWARTZ (PA Survey Book A10:76) has Christian's 1744 Survey situated on Chiquesalunga Creek. This creek was most likely what is now called Little Chickies Creek. I found her listed as Venia (age 9) on the 1920 census, as Vinnie Stout in her mother's obit, I have also heard it pronouned Vinie (vi nee). When Jasper died his children went to live with his siblings and their families but "Vinie" got married or was already married. Any info would be appreciated. When she was listed in her mother's obit she was living in Bristol, VA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
