    1. [VAWASHIN] SHELBY
    2. HE is not my relative, but I have quiet a bit about him and a good picture of his grave and a story about his burial which is funny. I posted this to SW Va list sometime back. The reason I have it is because Bristol is my hometown and you can't do Bristol history without mention of SHELBY.

    3. Posted on: Washington Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Va/Washington/10134 Surname: Byars, Blessing, Bowen, Snider ------------------------- Kevin, there were only two individuals named Daugherty listed in the book "High on a Windy Hill" as being buried in Washington Co., VA. The Mendota Cemetery has the grave of Robert M. Daugherty who was born 10 Jan 1873 and died on 22 Dec 1927. Joe Edward Daugherty was buried in the Old Baptist Cemetery. His date of birth is listed as 29 Sep 1920 while his death is shown to have been 21 Sep 1926. "Hight on a Windy Hill" is listed as having been compiled by Catherine Sanders McConnell and published by "The Overmountain Press, Johnson City, TN. To the best of my knowledge, the book that I have is a second edition. This first effort did not have an index which was ultimately published separately. The later addition, which I have, included an index. Herb Cunningham

    1. Green Spring Church cem. inscriptions?
    2. Eric Weber
    3. Posted on: Washington Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Va/Washington/10125 Surname: BERRY CAMPBELL ------------------------- I recently stopped in at the Green Spring Church Cemetery outside Abingdon, Washington Co., VA, searching for the gravestones of my ancestors John Berry (1743-86) and his wife Jane Campbell. The stones were found there in 1856, but I couldn't find them, so it's possible they've disappeared or deteriorated beyond legibility since then. I would have asked at the church while I was there, but no one was in the office. Does anyone know whether the inscriptions in that cemetery have ever been mapped or transcribed, and if so, where I might find a copy of the information?
