Posted on: Washington Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Washington/10235 Surname: Bowles, Bowels, Carson, Debusk ------------------------- Thanks so much! I will write you at your address. It sounds like this John Bowles may have been a grandfather since "the Bowles Boys", and possibly a sister, were born in VA, dates known: 1810-1816. I have strong reason to believe Washington Co.- I am sure they were their because of the Bowles/Carson marriage. The Carsons: Samuel Carson was born in Berkley Co. VA between 1777 and 1780. I got that info from Carson descendents that I found on this site or on the Fayette Co,.IL site, where the Bowles' and Carsons, as well as the DeBusks, migrated. The alternate spelling of Bowles, (Bowels), has been suggested to me and, when a "lookup" found my g-grandmther for me in a Fayette Co.,with her stepfather, her name was spelled Bowels, so I have never refused to look to these queries as well.

Hello Connie, I am researching the DUNN family in Washington County which is allied with the BEATTIE and LOGAN families. Please let me know if you have any clues that might shed any light as to the origins of William DUNN who married Lydia MUSGRAVE in 1788 in Washington County. Their son Samuel Dunn married Jane Beattie Ryburn EDMONDSON, daughter Mary Polly Dunn married Caleb LOGAN, and daughter Elizabeth DUNN married William Shaw LOGAN. ----- Original Message ----- From: Connie Allen <callen440@aol.com> To: <VAWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 30, 2001 8:10 AM Subject: [VAWASHIN] Beattie and Logan families > Posted on: Washington Co. Posted on: Washington Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Washington/10224 Surname: Boweles, Debusk, Carson ------------------------- In the book "History of Southwest Virginia 1746-1786 - Washington County 1777-1870 by Lewis Preston Summers" there is John Bowles listed once in the index of this book. On page 843..... When you turn to that page not much is mention about him except that he lived in Washington County, during these dates 1777-1784. Now, that dosen't mean that he wasn't there early or even later than those dates mentioned on page 843. But an interesting fact, John Bowles is the only Bowles mention in this book. So, there probably weren't to many Bowles in Washington County, VA at that time. Now for the Suranme "Carson" there were several listed in the book. Here are a few listed names:(Captain) Carson page 517; Carson (Liet.-Colonel) page 521; Carson, Charles page 445; Carson, Charles S. page 586,791; Carson, David page 140, 239, 291, 2922, 301, 370, 623, 624, 824, 856; Carson, James C. page 611, 845; Carson, John page 791, 812, 857; Carson, Robert page 813; Carson, Robert P. page 517, 545, 564, 566, 726, 875; Carson Samuel A. page 657, 662; Carson, Thomas J. page 870; Carson, William page 831, 880...If you would like to talk more my e-mail address grossd@gte.net. I'm not really familiar with these two lines, but I might be able to help a little.

Posted on: Washington Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Va/Washington/10222 Surname: Bundy, Moore, Barker, Sulcer, Sproles, Steele, Fortner, Pegram ------------------------- I am looking for information on the Bundy family who lived in the Bundy House which is currently located beside the old Russell County Court house. My g-g-g-grandmother was Barbary Bundy (b. June 9, 1820, d. ?) who married Mathias Sulcer. Her father was Thomas Bundy (b. 1780 in Tennessee, d. ?) who married Elisabeth ?. Barbary had a sister Nancy (b.1804, d. ?) and possibly more siblings. I would appreciate any information anyone might have.
I was wondering if anyone knew what a "Roll Call" is? Can someone be so kind to tell me what it is and how it works, the only thing I know is it has something to do with genealogy. How/who starts one and why? I do thank you for your replys. Bev
Posted on: Washington Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Washington/10221 Surname: Debusk, Rouse ------------------------- I not sure if we are talking about the same people, but Elijah Debusk Sr.I think, married Katherine Rouse about 1783. There children were possibly these according to information that was given to me about 3 years ago. I am still in the process of locating documentation proof. Children of Elijah Debusk Sr. and Katherine Rouse: 1. Marie Debusk Born abt. 1784 Died: September 1856 Fayette, Illinois 2. John Debusk Born abt. 1786 Died: December 1868 Washington County, VA 3. Margaret Debusk Born abt. 1788 Died: Fayette, IL 4. Rachel Debusk Born: July 20, 1791 Died: Washington County, VA 5. Isaac Debusk Born: January 24, 1794 Died: June 10, 1879 Reatown, Greene, TN 6. Elijah Debusk Jr. Born: February 18, 1794 Died:August 04, 1874 Clairborne, TN Married: Margaret "Peggy" Gross on August 03, 1809 in Washington County, VA...Margaret died in Clairborne, TN October 08, 1861 7. Enuice Debusk Born: abt. 1796 Died: July 13, 1849 Washington County, VA Now, this information is not documented, so there are probably some mistakes. But at least this will give some clues of where to look.
