She married Moses LINDSEY 1813 Washington Co. VA. I have compiled from various sources these records of Alexander and James MYERS. They are not necessarily the same person. Seems these people had lots of sons and they named them all the same names. The task is daunting, but I will check out all leads. Thanks for your help. John, Francis's name appears once in this book in the section entitled, "The State Records of North Carolina, (Clark). Vol. XXII---Miscellaneous, pages 55 to and including 92. North Carolina Revolutionary pensioners under the Acts of 1818 and 1832, as reported by Secretary of State to Congress in 1835" His entry is found on p. 572 of Roster of Soldiers... It simply lists his name and rank: #106. Browning, Francis, Privt. The first set of pages refer to the original documents which I presume would be on file at the North Carolina State Archives. Teri Tillman Barry, I'm writing to ask you a favor in reference to your book "Roster of Soldiers from N.C. etc..." Would you be kind enough to look and see if a FRANCIS BROWNING is listed in there. Your time and consideration would be very much appreciated. Thank you, John D. Darst Bay Village, Ohio
Sharon, Don't know if this will help or not, but the similarity of the names caught my attention. These notes are from a book entitled "Roster of Soldiers from North Carolina in the American Revolution" originally published by the North Carolina DAR in 1932, now available as a reprint from Genealogical Publishing Company (2000). p. 696 List of Members of Capt. One is a John McBroom who was born in NC c. 1760. He was in Sullivan Co., TN, by 1784 as shown by a land grant. Sullivan, as you may know, shares a boundary with Washington Co., VA. He died in Hawkins Co., TN in 1828. Hawkins was formed from Sullivan Co in 1786. In a 1790 list of voters in Hawkins County, 2 McBrooms are listed: James and John who may or may not be related. Go to the web site listed below to see the tax list for yourself. Maybe these McBrooms were related to yours, particularly John who was born in NC.
