Va Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Va/Washington/10362 Surname: Long, Fields, Hubbard, Cottrell ------------------------- Barbara, Do you have any brother for Catherine? I am trying to find the parents of Henry Long and his siblings Kathryn and Jennie(there were probably more, but I don't have any other names.)Henry was born abt. 1860, Kathryn abt. 1865,and Jennie sometime between,I think. Henry married Armina Fields from Hancock Co., TN, Kathryn and Jennie are found in Lee Co., VA in the early 1900's,Henry apparently died between 1895 and 1900. Kathryn's married names were Tipton and Shackleford, Jennie's were Dean and a couple of others that I don't have at this moment. On one of the censuses, one of the sisters gave her father's place of Birth as Washington, Maybe she meant Wa. County and not state. I haven't had any luck with WA state. Hope some of these names connect. Please let me know. Thank you. Regina

    2. Charles L Patterson
    3. Posted on: Washington Co. Va Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Washington/10358 Surname: ------------------------- As far as i know, little is known about the parents of Elijah DeBusk. It is believed that his name was Jacob, but so far no one has proved this. Sheila Anderson thinks that the DeBusk name is German. It appears that they were close to the other Germans in Washington County, Virginia. The case she is building is good. I still wonder if they were French that fled to one of the German princedoms where they became friend with the German like Rouse, Widener, Cook. I cant tell you why i hang on to the thought that we are French. The bottom line is that my book goes back to Elijah DeBusk and Catherine Rouse. I included some of the old stories, but no proof. I would like to get more on your line. I also descend from Andrew Edmondson and Susan DeBusk through their daughter Martha Edmondson who married Elias DeBusk (first cousins) down through their son William Andrew DeBusk and Martha Jane McAbee through James Jackson DeBusk and Lucy Ann Aynes through my mother Sarah May DeBusk who married Charlie Lee Patterson down to me. 1. [VAWASHIN] JOHNSON/JOHNSTON
    2. Hello All. I'm am trying to find my gg grandfather Jerome Bonnum Johns(t)on's ancestors. Jerome was born 1849 in Wolfe Co. KY, however, I have been told by someone in another branch of the family that their Johnstons did migrate to KY and then on to MO, much the same as my family's history. The most promising trail I've found has lead me to Washington County, VA and the family of Benjamin Albright Johnston. It all "kinda" fits together but nothing concrete...yet. Info I have is: Benjamin was b. 1795 in Wash.Co. VA, m. Mary Crabtree. Their children included Addison Johnston (possibly my ggg grandfather) b. 1821 also in Wash Co. VA. My gg grandfather Jerome's father was named Addison, hence my interest in this family. The information I have found on this family does not show a marriage for Addison or any possible children so I can't be quite sure if this is my line or not. I am looking for anyone who might be researching the same family to exchange info or share frustration. :-) Gerri

    1. [VAWASHIN] Prison Ship Torbay Prisoner Muster Roll
    2. I added to the site the muster roll of prisoners dated 5/18/1781, on the British Prison Ship Torbay. These prisoners, from what I can tell, where all militia. However, only two men have which state they served from, Col. MOORE of the NC Militia & Maj. BARNWELL of the S.C. Militia. As these two men signed a letter to General Greene, I believe all the men to be NC & SC troops, but that is only an opinion. The letter mentioned in the preface from Col. Balfour, the British Commandant of Charles Town, indicates that these men are being held as surety to compel the American forces to cease executing Loyalist troops captured. I am in the midst of transcribing that now. Best of wishes, Billy P.S. The site's URL is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~familyinformation/ Click on Transcripts, then the History Link. The Torbay page is under the NEW heading.

    1. [VAWASHIN] Abstract of the NC Line Proofing Complete
    2. I have completed the proofing of the surnames P-Z and thus the document. Only one significant change, the addition of one person I had missed. That name follows: Taylor, Benjm. Corp. 10th Carter's 6/3/81 War In addition, I changed the surname WALLACE to the original spelling of WALLIS, confirmed WILLIS was indeed WILLIS and added an alternative spelling of SPELLMAN for SPILLMAN. After intense scrutiny, I still could not decide if that dot was a pen mark or damage to the film. I also confirmed a few dates that I had question marks by. Oh, I had listed a company commanded by Wash, it actually was WALSH's company. There was one typo, the given name Hardem was actually Harden WARNER. Best of wishes, Billy
