VA message board and will go back and do the SW VA one. I'll send you an invitation to join our research website. You may "meet" up with some researchers who are kin to your branch. If you can't attend the reunion IN this summer, I hope you'll be able to come to the one in VA we're hoping to organize for 2003.

We have a good mix of people from all over the country who descended from the brothers who went to VA. Eddie Howard, another Fleenor researcher, and I are already talking about finding a good spot for a family reunion to be held in VA in 2003, so if you can't attend the one in IN this summer, perhaps we can enlist your aid in helping us get organized for the one in VA. We're also discussing the creation of a Family Foundation. Would you be interested in joining?

So I guess that makes us third cousins. Have been tracking the family for quite some time now and had never heard of that about the Gobble name change. I knew there was indian in our family cause my grandmother - Nellie Gobble - had a brother (Doc - Edwin) that looked "VERY" indian. I had heard there was Cherokee back there but could not track it down. If you send me your home address I will send you some information that I have collected. Looking forward to hearing from you. The Martha Washington Inn in Abingdon, VA was previously Martha Washington College. Photos from earlier days as a college are displayed on the walls -- possibly you could find your ancestor's photo there. Their website at http://www.marthawashingtoninn.com/ has a short history. ann on 1/1/02 3:46 PM, genealogyldy@cs.com at genealogyldy@cs.com wrote: > I'm looking for information about a few things. While double checking on the web whether a proposed project of mind had already been put on the web, I found it sorta had. The following site has great scans of the Nat'l Archives film in the subject line (I don't feel like going upstairs to get the film number). I have requested some info from the people who did it on whether the data had been extracted & put in database form on the Web. Hopefully I will know soon. If not, that will be the next project after Prince George's county. (My project regarding New York Negro Inspection Lists 1783 fell through as a group sponsored by the Canadian gov't has it on-line already). The military interment site's URL is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/special/military/toc.html The site is organized by States. Open the state & then military post. Go to the oen you wish to check & click on the page numbers for the actual scans. Some of the entries have notes regarding cause of death, relationships, etc. Very interesting stuff!! If you had ancestors who went West & disappeared, this may be a place to check. Happy New Year, Billy
Hi & Happy New Year: I'm looking for information about a few things. First of all, I assume that Martha Washington College is no longer there? In 1879 Elijah Hoss was on the faculty of Martha Washington College. Then from 1881-1885 he was at Emory and Henry College where in 1885 he was the President. I'm trying to locate him and his family (and niece Mary Ollie Clark) in an census or a directory, something to put them all together. Does anyone have any information about this family while living in this area? Thanks so much, Deb
