Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/GBC.2ACE/1472 Message Board Post: In "High on a Windy Hill" at the end of the listings for the burials in the Green Springs Cemetery there is a note that "data secured in 1932 by Victoria Gilliam for the WPA was illegible in 1959". Does this mean the stones couldn't be read or the actural gathered data was illegible? Or where the data might be housed?? Had a relative in the 1940's visit the cemetery and wrote a letter about seeing some of the stone of relatives not there anymore. Of course they listed no data !! Thank you.

I've looked at this once and ruled it out as ours since it was Turkey Cove. Turkey Cove is now called Seminary. It is near the Lee/Wise Co lines. What few records I have found our James was living near Jonesville. In his day the distance would have been quite a haul. Everything posted to this site goes to the Washington Co VA mailing list. A nice gentleman named Bob Ford has responded with more information, it looks as this is a land grant from 1784, I do not think our James is old enough to have been a property owner in 1784; from census records I have him being born about that time. Sorry, I hoped you had hit on something.-Deb

    3. Sorry I cannot help with the Hughes or Childers names but I am wondering if your John Clark is related to John J. Clark who married Susan Fulcher Carpenter. They had children John J. Clark and Susan Margaret Clark. The son - John J. Clark Jr who was born in 1847, later married Mary C. Ryan in 1876. Also, I have a Malinda Clark some where in my files but cannot seem to locate her right now. Do these names have any connection to your Clark? Linda > 1850 Washington Co. VA Census > Robert Clark 44 VA farmer > Margaret " 28 " > Mary " 5 " > Martha 4 " " > ***JOHN " 2 > Rebecca Hughes 35 " > Julia (looks like) Childers 15 " > > This ***JOHN Clark also born ca1848 is possibility. > Do not know the relationship of Hughes and ?Childers to these Clarks. > > Any help or info is appreciated! > > charlotte

    2. Shiloh Stone
    3. I am researching my great-great grandfathers family. We have not known his parents names so I called the funeral home that did his burial and the information they had on file was that his dad was John C. Lewis and mother was Rose Sergent. John and Rose were married in Wise county in 1872. They had a son in 1873, my great-great grandfather, Patrick Henry Lewis. In the 1880 census John had remarried and my gg grandfather was listed and Ison. Patrick Henry Lewis married Martha Kathleen Hall. They both died in Washtington County and are buried in Hendrix cemetary. If anyone has any information on these families I would love to hear from you! Thanks, Joy Stone _________________________________________________________________ Don’t just search. Find.
