Hello Lists I am gonna ask again???? Does anyone have Marriage records for the years 1887 to 1900? I am trying to find a record for MARY ANN OWENS or MOLLIE / POLLIE OWENS born Apr 29-0874 to I.V. and MARY JANE WELCH OWENS. Died unknown to a WILL / WILLIAM /WILLIS / McCLURE NFI Also does anyone know if death records were recorded in Lee Co after 1880. I know some births and deaths were kept in 1887 and 1890. I am trying to also find the death of CORA LEE OWENS born 4-29-1878. She is in 1880 census as a two year old, but after that I can't find her. I have VOL II of Cemeteries of Lee Co and she isn't listed in it. If anyone has the other VOLs would you please look...I will be indebted to you if you find them.. I will probably scream from Cleveland OH and you'll hear me all the way to where you live( grin) Milly WARD Piros My Mind Is Like Lightning....One Brilliant Flash and Poooffffffffffffffffff, It's Gone ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

My ancestor came to Washington Co. in late 1700's; some of his children were baptized in Wythe Co, VA. I have found no records of any of his children being baptized in Washington County. The father purchased property in Washington Co, but later, a child was baptized in Wythe County. Did they return to Wythe County to their "home church" for their child to be baptized? or had they just not yet moved to Washington County, and were still living in Wythe County? Mary Kegley has transcribed some church records for Wythe county. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was born in Damascus, and had lived in California for many years. He was always interested in Washington County, VA genealogy and graciously offered his assistance to many people who posted queries on the Washington County websites. His gentle demeanor and helpful attitude will be greatly missed. He will be buried at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery on Nov 10, 2007. The Iron Horse Campground is at the intersection of Hwy 58 at Blossom Road on the west end. That intersection/area was also known as "Roe Town" or "Roetown" ---- and I think the Roes and Speers may have intermarried. That is also in the same area as the Roe Cemetery, which is off Hwy 58, I think Vails Mill Road to Cornett Road to the cemetery at the top of the hill on the left. (It's been years since I was there, and I don't live in Washington Co, so my directions may be a bit off. Sorry) Back to Laurel Community. There is a church on Blossom Road which is in a building which I was told was formerly the Laurel School Building. I think the church is called "Laurel Community Church." Blossom Road is only about 1/2 to 3/4 mile long and runs parallel to the Laurel Fork of the Holston River and also parallel to Hwy 58. Hope this helps.
