Do you have a copy of other information that indicated Thomas had a daughter Mary about the same age as your Mary? I would love to have a copy. Maybe it might help. I do have a copy of his son John's death certificate naming his father which I am attaching. It doesn't name his mother but does indicate that both Thomas his father and his mother were born in Russel County, VA. I haven't yet located confirmation of that. His children by his first wife ( I incorrectly put Mary but it is thought to be Jane who was his first wife) were John the oldest son b. 8 Jun 1833, Jane born abt 1839 m. Charles Ferrell b. 1803 Halifax Co,VA and James abt 1841 d.22 Nov 1854 I believe William and Charles (listed in 1860 & 1870 census) were also his children by Jane although not mentioned in other records they were to old to have been Margaret's children. I have seen records of a Thomas in 1810 census records who may be Thomas's father unless was old enough at the age of about 15 to be on his own. If this is indeed another Thomas then posssible he may have had a daughter the correct age you are seeking Thomas's children by his second wife Margaret on listed in the 1860 and 1870 Census record Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Willie Sue Ropp was not born in VA. She was born in Clareton Co. MO. The story told to me was her Father William Ropp was a Confederate Soldier and after the War between the states he moved to MO. Where Willie Sue Ropp was born. She used to tell me she lived in a cabin there and during the winters there the snow would blow in under the rafters and land on her bed. Later on her family moved back to virgina where she met John Camp Walker. John and Willie had a true long distance courtship. We have found letters in the attic of their home in Asheville NC that Willie Sue Ropp had saved in an old trunk. John Graduated from Virgina Polytech Inst. and began working for the railroads as a civil engineer. His work took him from Florida to Idaho. The letters he wrote her during their courtshop began in 1906 as far as we can tell and that is how they courted. He would travel around the country building railroads and write her telling of his adventures. They were married in 1910 and began an wonderful life together. John and Willie eventually moved to Western North Carolina and setteled in Asheville. There he began working for the State Highway Commission and was the Division engineer for Division 10, which covered the entire western end of the state. His office was located in Buncombe County and under his guidence John built the mojority of the ! roadways in the western end of the state. After his retirement in 1950 from the Highway commission he began working for the City of Asheville NC as the City Engineer. There he built the Asheville Regional Aiport in 1960. He passed away in December 1964. Willie Sue came to live with our family around 1967 and she passed away in the fall of 1969. They has 2 Children.
