Mary and VAWarren gang, Mary, thanks for the kind words. Did my heart good :) I have good news. The Warren Heritage Society has seen the error of their ways. The Board of Directors has approved the hiring of a part time archivist for their Hale Archives. I was offered the opportunity for this new position. However, I had to decline the offer. I was seeking full time work (and have, just today, accepted another job which starts Thursday). I've been assured they will seek another person for the job (Mary, your phone is going to ring tomorrow). I hope Warren County researchers will take advantage of the wonderful collections archived at the society. There are some true jewels in the collections. Again, Mary, thank you! When I left, the many letters and phone calls to board members is what brought them to decide to hire someone. I appreciate all the efforts everyone has made on my behalf and most importantly, for the future of the archives! Just wanted to let you know that Warren Heritage Society dropped the ball again and got rid of a great volunteer archivist for the Hale Archives. Linda Whitmer was volunteering, and keeping that great resource open to researchers, but WHS figured they couldn't afford to pay her, even part-time. So she had to leave. This collection is a fantiastic archives for Warren people and houses, as well as history, but WHS keeps shutting the door in people's faces. I guess they feel that the only people they want to see are the ones that come to the Festival of Leaves. Too bad!
