Dear List, I've probably seen this region where I have such deep roots many times from 35,000 feet. But in early July, I'm actually going there. I will be able to spend the period July 3 - July 6 in the SW Virginia / SE Kentucky region. I plan to hit courthouses, libraries, museums, etc. (and on the 4th, just travel a lot). If anyone has specific suggestions of places to go, or even people to see, or even cheap (but not ratty) motels, I would love to hear from you. Thanks to all.
