Charlene Payne Leist, a descendant of Clairborne Thompson and Naomi Willson, transcribed the following Montgomery Co., VA, marriage bond: Know all men by these present that we Claiborne Thompson, George Godbey and Benjamin Willson are held and firmly bound unto James ? Preston Esquire Governor or ? magistrate of the commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars; the payment where of well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs jointly and severally firmly by these presents. sealed with our seals and date this 18th day of March 1818. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage intended to be shortly had and solemnized between the above Claiborne Thompson and Omy Willson now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the same then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force Clairborne X Thompson teste George Godbey B?
