Just a little bit of information you may use as a hint. My family all lived in Boissevain and Pocahontas, Tazewell County, VA. All within 10 miles of Bluefield. They all got their marriage license in Princeton, Mercer County, WV because it was closer than Tazewell. Transportation was not all that great in those days past and the men folks all had to work. Most did not have automobiles until after WWII. Even today, those that die their death certificate may be issued in Princeton because the closest hospital is in Bluefield. My fathers address on the Social Security Death Index is Bluefield, WV. He died at the VA Hospital in Salem, VA and lived in Boissevain, VA. Why its that way? I don't know. For those that don't know the area, Princeton is the Mercer County Seat and Bluefield is nearby. The clerks at the Mercer County Court House are some of the nicest you will run into and the best I can remember, they have the lowest cost for copies I have seen. Something like $1.50 each. When I research the SW VA area I touch all bases because of county and state boundary changes and the transportation issue. My bet would be that many records for Bluefield, VA would be at the Mercer County Courthouse in Princeton. Robert Crabtree
