The John Elswick who died bef 1749 was the father of four children by his marriage to Lydia Unknown: Mary, b. 1741, m. Archibald Thompson Lidia, b. 1743 "Rev. War" John Elswick, b 1745, m. Susana Unknown Johnathan, b. 1747, m. Millie Unknown Finch (By the way, Johnathan was also in the Rev. War, but Elswick researchers who gave me the data stuck on the "Rev. War" for this John III to help keep them all straight. War" John Elswick left a will; I hope he did. According to the diary, John and Susana Unknown had the following children (pages 19, 99): Mary Elswick, b. 1769 Betty Elswick, b. 1771 Johnathan, b. 1773 A Joseph Elswick is list on page 19 in the register of children born, following the record of the three above births: "Joseph Elswick Son of Mary was Born the 4th day of May 1788 Sunday noon." As Archibald set down this record of Joseph's birth in 1788, it seems odd that he didn't list more children for Rev. War John and Susana in the diary. Other Elswick researchers have traced their lines to children of Rev. War John and Susana, but I can't get them all straightened out. > If this is true, then this lineage becomes John I m.
