The Tazewell County Court, Tazewell, Tazewell County, Virginia also has a copy of the Civil War Widow's application of Sarah Jane (Simmons) PACK, wife of Adam PACK who was born abt 1843, son of Hardin & Maria PACK. Sarah Jane SIMMONS was born 1858 in Surry/Stokes County, NC and the dau of John F SIMMONS and Martha Jane Abbott "Janey" SMITH. She married Adam PACK 1881 in Thompson Valley, Tazewell Co, Virginia - both were widowed at time of marriage. They lived in Tazewell Co, Virginia thru 1910 Census and by 1920 were living in Coffee Creek, Morgan Co, Kentucky. On 12 March 1920 ADAM PACK died in Silver Hilll Morgan Co, Ky. He had applied for his Civil War Pension from Morgan Co, Ky (lost an eye) which is in Ky State Archives & Library. After Adam's death his wife Sarah was living with son Maston William (or vice versa)Pack in Tazewell County, Va 1920 when she started her Civil War Widow's Pension Application - only 1 page. She died 16 Jan 1935 in Silver Hill, Morgan Co, Ky and was buried Pack Cemetery, Morgan Co, Ky Cemetery alongside Adam. I do not know what ADAM's KY Civil War Pension application states, but the one page form filed by SARAH PACK in the Circuit Court of Tazewell County has genealogical info. Adam served Co G, 45th Virginia - May thru October 1861 Co G, 23rd Batt, Va Inf - May 1862 thru April 1864 The one page application of Sarah can also be found in Vol 1, Commonwealth of Va Statewide Civil war Pensions Book, by Ashley K Nuckols in Tazewell County Library.
