Some major libraries subscribe to HeritageQuestOnline. (The subscriptions are very expensive for them, which is why the smaller libraries don't have subscriptions.) I live 60 miles from Los Angeles, but because I sometimes research at the LA Public Library, I have a library card. Using this card, I can access all kinds of databases the library offers from home, including HQO. The log-in requires I enter my library card number and my zip code number. I am sure libraries can set the parameters for their log-in requirements. There is no fee to the card-holder. One thing I have found is that I have to disable my firewall in order to access HQO. I have to be sure to enable it again when I am finished. Otherwise I can't gain access to HQO. If you have a library card to a library that has HQO and have trouble getting to the database, try doing this before you call their tech service to see what the problem is. Although some smaller libraries ARE starting to get it, as well. Bristol Public Library now has Heritage Quest, as does the regional library in Virginia that includes Grayson County. It is a GEM for those who do genealogy work! I'm kinda surprised that Tazewell County hasn't gotten it yet, since genealogy in that area is such a big thing. Maybe that will happen sometime fairly soon... Chrissie On 9/13/05, Snibbod1@aol.com <Snibbod1@aol.com> wrote: > > Some major libraries subscribe to HeritageQuestOnline.
