I am researching John Edward Burk and the data I have found states he was born in 1756, Tazewell City, VA. If I have figured this out correctly, there was not a Tazewell Co. VA until 1800 and he was most likely born in Augusta Co. VA. If he never moved in his life I would need to check each of the following counties. Is this correct? Tazewell was formed in 1800 from Russell and Wythe Co.s Russell was formed in 1786 from Washington Co. Wythe was formed in 1790 from Montgomery Co. Washington and Montgomery Co.s were formed in 1777 from Fincastle which is an abolished county that was formed from Botetourt. Botetourt was formed in 1770 from Augusta Co. and it's county seat is Fincastle. No wonder genealogy is a giant jig-saw puzzle. Any help greatly appreciated. Diane Miller Georgetown, TX
