Here is the only known record I have for them (the Jacob Helvey is the brother of Henry): 1803--January 1: Indenture between HENRY HELVEY and MILLY his wife and JACOB HELVEY and DICEY his wife for selling ROBERT CROCKET 265 acres of land (by survey bearing date May 30, 1793 and patented Aug. 16, 1794) that lies on Reed Creek, for $950. I copied the actual bond from the box in the back of the Montgomery Co courthouse, not just a record from the book. ABIJAH WHITT AND NANCY COMPTON: Outside: A. Whitt M. Bond 18th Septr 1820 Inside: Know all men by these presents that we Abijah Whitt and Joseph Compton are held and firmly bound unto Thomas M. Randolph Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of one hundred fifty dolars which payment will and truly is be made to our said Governor or his successors for the use of the commonwealth we bond ourselves our heirs ? jointly and severally (?) firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 18th day of September 1820. NOTE: I'm sure the confusion regarding Abijah vs. Archibald marrying Polly Lorton stems from what is written on the outside of this paper, however, the inside clearly states that Abijah is entering the marriage bond and the signature is clear.
