    3. Jerry, I think Lula Hankins Hunter's website is definitely the place to start. I would also suggest that you contact the courthouse and ask for the marriage records of William Hankins. Most of the records include the parents names. The only one I have found that didn't was from 1806. Tazewell County Heritage, Vol. 1, page 225 lists William Harrison Hankins as the son of John Hankins, Sr and Elizabeth Skaggs. It lists William's wife as Hannah Harrison. I am also descended from John Hankins, SR and Elizabeth Skaggs. Please contact me and I will be glad to share what info I have. Always nice to meet a new cousin! Up til 1840 only the head of households were recorded. The 1850 was the first to list all family members.

    3. I don't mean to be driving you all crazy; I have put off posting my questions to the site because you have so much wonderful information on-line that I have really enjoyed going through. I am so proud to be connected to all of the great folks with Tazewell Co. roots!!! I am curious also about the 1840 census. I have a feeling my Wm. Hankins may be the one on line 26, page 55; but there is not much there. Again, is there other information available, or is this it? I also see an Abel Hankins, page 50, line 22; a Joseph on page 60, line 9; Moses on page 60, line 10; and Lydia also page 60, line 28. Please let me know if anyone knows anymore about these folks. I am eager for any suggestions you all may have. Thanks so much!!! 3. Okay; I have looked at the online census for 1820. It is fantastic, but I still have some questions. Can anyone tell me if it is in any way possible to find out more information about these folks, or did they only record head-of-household data & then numbers??? I am trying to find out more specifically on the Hankins families that show as Hawkins in the census. These would be John Hawkins page 249; and Joseph and Moses Hawkins on page 250. I also have the same question for the 1830 census. Did they record more data on the actual census? If not, I am still up against my brick wall. Thanks so very much again! 3. I am wondering if someone could please help me with some lookups from the Tazewell Co. Census of 1850? I need to please know what it has to say for the following folks: Hanken page 308B Hankens pages 295B -- 296B -- 297A -- 297B Hankin page 295A Hankins pages 294B -- 297A -- 298A -- 303A Hawkins page 318 A Higginbotham page 317A I know this is an awful lot to ask at once. I am trying to find my great-great-grandfather's siblings. He has been my brick wall; William A. Hankins, b. 1810 in VA, supposedly Tazewell Co. If anyone has the time to do this it will be most greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance! Jerry Johnston

    1. [VATAZEWE] Johnson Family
    2. _ Mitosis _
    3. This Johnson family has it origins in Tazewell Co... in particular TipTop, Va. "Birdie" (maybe Bertha) Johnson... this would be the married name, maiden unknown. Her husband, per oral history, was killed will working on power lines for Old Dominion Electric. (think this would have to be some time in the 1930s... dunno nothing for sure!) Believe their are at least 8 children for Birdie, 7 female and 1 male. The children should be present until about 1960, or as late as mid 1990s possibly. There is a reference to 'grandma Pool' (not sure of spelling), tho I know not maternal or paternal. Another local mentioned which may or may not be significant... Jenkin Jones, Ky/Va? Here are the names of some of the children in no particular order: Betty Ila Mae(May) Tom Margaret Georgia (ran the postoffice from her home in TipTop for many years) Martha Viola That ain't alot... but then I ain't got a lot! Before starting a 'bonified' search effort, thought I would post here hoping for a short-cut -=[ Mitosis ]=- Clone of Time Past http://205.138.52.14/~mitosis

    3. Subject: Wm. A. Hankins born 1810 & his brother Alexander W. Hankins I am trying to find any and all information available about my great-great-grandfather, William A. Hankins, b. in VA in 1810. He had one brother at least named Alexander W. Hankins who was a few years younger than William was. The brothers both moved to Warren Co., MO in the 1840s. William married Elizabeth "Betsy" Higginbotham of Russell County, daughter of Moses Higginbotham. Their marriage record calls him Wm. Hawkins. If anyone knows anything about these folks, please let me know. These two men are my brick wall with my Hankins family. Thanks very much.
