    3. My wife's father was a coal miner in Amonate VA back in the early 1940s, and they lived in Amonate, when it was a mining camp. In fact, her sister was born in house #57, which still stands in Amonate. I am seeking info about early Amonate, and the mines. If anyone knows or can direct me to such info, it would be greatly appreciated. Jack

    3. Laura, Have you tried the spelling "Peery"? That is an alternate spelling that was used in Tazewell. According to rootsweb, there is a Liberty in Tazewell County. I checked in several books: Annals of Tazewell County VA from 1800-1922. Archives of the Pioneers of Tazewell County VA Tazewell County, VA Heritage I found several with the family names of Butt and Perry (Peery), but not your Sarah, Oliver, Charles Wesley. You might try contacting Tazewell County Clerk to see if there is a birth record. I have obtained Birth records for as far back as 1855. I haven't tried earlier, but they may have them: James E. 3. Good morning, I'm emailing to ask for your help finding information Oliver Henry PERRY and his father Charles PERRY. My family has always believed that Oliver Henry PERRY was born on April 8, 1822 in Tazewell, Virginia and that his father was named Charles. Oliver Henry PERRY was married to Sarah Ann BUTT on August 26, 1847 in Botetourt County, VA. Her father was Abraham Butt of Butt Farm. Sarah Ann was born on December 10, 1820. She died on Jun 6, 1889 and was buried in Chestnut Grove Cemetery (an historic Dunkard cemetery) near Oak Hill, Fayette County, West Virginia. My family has always maintained that Oliver and Sarah PERRY's son, Charles Wesley PERRY, was born in Liberty. It could be the town outside Tazewell, VA. Oliver died on November 11, 1904 in Fayette County, WV and was buried in Chestnut Grove Cemetery also. I am finding more ancestors on this side of who where members of the Dunkard practice. Can anyone tell me about Dunkards Bottom or where it is. I've also found several references to Pinnacle Rock. Is that close to Dunkards Bottom or Liberty? Can anyone help? Does anyone know the PERRY family or BUTT families? Thank you Laura Keaton Morrison

Sheila Unfortunately if you do the math, born in 1769 and died in 1886 makes him 117!! Obviously Harman has something wrong! That is why I am looking for better documentation. I suspect the real dates are 1779 to 1876. Carol Ramey [email protected]

    3. Jerry, I have written to the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetry in the past. I received copies of index cards they have on file. There is little information on these cards. Name, birth and death date, grave location. One card shows the name of the funeral home. Their address is PO Box 702, Richlands, VA 24641. Phone 540 964-4410. I have found funeral home records to be very helpful, also. 3. Jean, I find a marriage record for Abraham and Livy Helmandollar - October 28, 1852. Ceremony performed by George W. G. Browne. It appears that several of Livy's relatives were in "C" Company, 50th Regiment, "Jones Brigade", Virginia Infantry during the Civil War. You can probably obtain the military records for: John, Granger, SR and Granger JR. Lee Helmandollar served in W.W.I. Sorry, there isn't a lot about either Abraham or Livy. Just the marriage record. Perhaps some of the Military records would give you more info on the family. Happy Hunting! 1. Re: [VATAZEWE] bundling bags
    2. Clyde Snider
    3. Actually, I think Ann was refering to the bundling bag scene in the movie THE PATRIOT. After I saw the movie I read a book about the making of the movie and it stated that although the makers of the movies were aware of the use of bundling bags they couldn't find much documentation on them so they made the scene the way they figured bundling bags were used. It was a good scene in a very good movie that showed how life must have been in the 1770's. For those of you who haven't seen the movie yet there is a scene where sweethearts sleep in the same bed one night but the boy had to sleep in a bag sewn up by the girl's mother so his whole body, except for his head, was in the bag. It was the same principle as the use of a "bundling board". Clyde Snider on 7/7/00 9:59 AM, [email protected] at [email protected] wrote: > I think you are balking about bundling boards.
